Why it matters in plain terms: pressure follows Henry’s Law — the higher the pressure, the more gas dissolves into liquid. Normal breathing at sea level delivers about 0.3 mL of dissolved oxygen per 100 mL of plasma; at 1.5 ATA breathing concentrated oxygen that rises to roughly 3 mL per 100 mL, and at 2.0 ATA to about 4.5 mL.
